How the calculation is done, with which figures, and when they were last verified. This page exists so you can challenge the result — it's the only way to trust it.
Known limitations
The "extrapolated" badge does not replace a published study: it is explicit reasoning, grounded in sourced facts, that the site openly admits has not been confirmed by direct observation. An "insufficient data" entry does not signal a failure of the site but the actual state of the scientific literature for that species — that is information in itself, not a gap to be filled by extrapolation.
